The latest issue includes a comparative review of Ebsco’s Points of View Reference Center and Gale’s Opposing Viewpoints Resource Center. Reviews of CQ's Congress Collection and ProQuest’s Historical Newspapers are also available. Other items of interest include AquaBrowser innovations at the University of Chicago and reports on archiving systems' Portico and LOCKKS.

Califa members have free online access to the full text of The Charleston Advisor, one of the premier sources for database reviews for libraries. Log into the Califa Web site and look for this resource under the main menu.

Library Discard Sales through bLogistics

Many of our members often wonder what to do with their discard sales. Califa has a relationship with bLogistics, which handles online discard sales for libraries.

Califa is happy to have pricing on two new Ebsco databases. We now have pricing on NoveList Plus (complete readers’ advisory solution - with all of the things you love about NoveList – PLUS 50,000 nonfiction titles and value-added editorial content).

Additionally, we have pricing for Ebsco's new Home Improvement Reference Center, an online tool for home improvement assistance, including: maintenance, remodeling, electrical work, plumbing,
wood projects, outdoor improvements, decorating home & garden, etc.

SCELC Vendor Day


Califa members are welcome to attend the 2008 SCELC Vendor Day at Loyola Marymount University on March 6. Please go to the SCELC website to check out the program and list of vendors confirmed.

There will be a continental breakfast from 8-9am, and then three 50-minute sessions with the vendors of your choice. During lunch you will be able to speak with vendors, and then after lunch there will be four 30-minute sessions, for a total of seven offered throughout the day.

This is a fun and informative day, and we look forward to seeing lots of Califa members attend.
